Our Mission

Hello! We are Clear For Takeoff, an unsigned Alternative/Pop Rock band from Ellicott City, MD. We have been making music together as CFT for almost 3 years now. In that time, we have been fortunate enough to share the stage with acts like Weezer, Cee Lo Green, Eve 6, and Flogging Molly, and even had our music featured in Hollister stores around the world.

Being an unsigned artist has its ups and downs, but one thing we have always cherished is the fact that we get to spend more time connecting with YOU, our fans. You were instrumental in us working with platinum-selling producer Rob Freeman and releasing our EP, Line Of Fire. Without your constant support, love, and generous donations, it’s no secret that we wouldn’t have made it this far. That being said, we now turn to you again to help us take another valuable step in our musical careers

Having a great EP is only the first step in this very digital world we live in. In order for us to be able to continue to grow our fanbase and share our stories with the rest of the world, we need a great music video that we can share as well. Therefore, we are launching this campaign to raise funds to assist us with recording a new music video for our next single – “It Takes Two To Make An Accident.”

What We Need & What You Get

In order to produce a professional music video that organizations like MTV and Fuse TV will want to air, it will cost us around $1,000. This money will go towards securing locations to shoot, camera operators, editing, props, and actors/extras.

As we did before with our album Line of Fire, in return for your generous contributions, we’ll hook up you up with exclusive CFT “swag” and cool opportunities – ranging from a signed copy of the video all the way to an in-person concert at your house!

If we are not able to meet our funding goal, we will not be able to work with the video production company we are hoping to partner with. However, the funds will still go towards producing the video ourselves, so any donation truly helps.

The Impact

Our hope is that, with your help, we can produce a video that will be meaningful and ultimately find its way on MTV, Fuse, or other streaming video outlets so that the world can see it. We’ll be releasing vlogs on our YouTube channel (@CFTband) every step of the way; that way YOU can see firsthand just how valuable your donation was and share this great experience with us!

Even if you aren’t able to contribute anything monetarily, simply spreading the word about our music and this campaign would mean the world to us. We decided to start this project around Thanksgiving because it serves as an important reminder to us just how important YOU are and how thankful we are for your continued support over the past 2-3 years. What an incredible evening! We need to say thank you to so many people: Nelly’s Echo, The August Exchange, Me and This Army,Shelby Blondell, TheBarefootsinger, The Deep End Studio (Tony Correlli), Transcendent Events (Lauren Saul), Central Christian,HFS at 97.5 – Baltimore’s Rock Alternative, Mid-Atlantic Rock Reviews, Security (Kim & Alfred), all of the vendors who donated items to the silent auction, and of course you, the fans!

With your help, last night’s Holiday Rock Show collected over 25 LBS of canned goods and raised over $1300 for the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. You guys are truly amazing. Happy Holidays everyone!!!

They may be unsigned, but Maryland pop-punkersClear For Takeoff are making the industry take notice with their latest release, Line of Fire, which was produced by platinum-selling producer Rob Freeman (Gym Class Heroes, Cobra Starship, Hit The Lights). If you’re an “East Coaster” be sure to catch the band performing a Holiday show in December with Nelly’s Echo from the Third Season of “The Voice”. All proceeds from this show will be donated to the Children’s Center at John Hopkins.

The following is a transcript of our interview with Joey Enste, bassist for Maryland-based Clear For Takeoff.

1. So tell us about your name. Any special significance?

Since we’ve all been playing in bands for the past decade so, we’ve come to think of “Clear For Takeoff” as sort of our motto. The name speaks to our desire to take our music to the next level and beyond, with the ultimate goal of sharing it with the world. Of course we also can’t help but love its connection to aviation and space exploration.

2. You guys are based in Maryland. What’s the music scene like there?

The Maryland music scene has had its ups and downs the past few years. While it isn’t what it was five years ago, the scene certainly isn’t dead. Baltimore rock bands seem to be working harder now than ever to rejuvenate what we once had here and we’re just happy to be a part of it.

3. I understand that you opened for Weezer and Flogging Molly not too long ago? What was that like?

It was one of the most amazing experiences of our musical career. To be able to hang out with, let alone share the stage with some of our musical idols is an experience that we will not soon forget.

4. Who are some of your biggest musical inspirations?

Some of our main influences are Weezer, Foo Fighters and Green Day, as well as older classics like Queen, The Beatles and The Ramones. However, the bottom line is we write what we feel, and strive for honesty and passion.

5. You guys are starring in a new musical comedy called Rise And Fall…In Love. How did you get involved with that project?

The film director and his family happen to be big fans of our music and initially wanted to use some of our songs for the soundtrack. However, once he stumbled upon our YouTube page and watched a bunch of our videos, the director decided he wanted to utilize our acting abilities as well. Now we’re co-starring, performing, and even doing our own stunts in the movie!

6. What’s it been like working on a film? How different is the experience from working on a recording?

It’s refreshing to be a part of such a hugely creative endeavor and not be as responsible for steering the project…we’re simply enjoying the ride. Not to mention, recording a song doesn’t require cool martial arts moves.

7. Do you plan on getting involved with other films in the future?

While nothing is currently in the works, we certainly wouldn’t be opposed to being in another film in the future! If nothing else, we definitely have a few music videos on the horizon and we’re constantly making fools of ourselves on camera for our YouTube channel.

8. Any last comments?

We’re honestly just four guys who really want to make a difference in the world. Just watching the news and seeing some of the horrible things going on drives us to keep making more music. We want to be an outlet for our fans and give them an opportunity to forget about the challenges they face every day, even if it’s just for three and a half minutes as they listen to one of our songs.
